About Swedens national parks
Sweden has 31 national parks that together represent the country's unique and diverse natural environments. These national parks are protected areas established to preserve valuable ecosystems and biodiversity for future generations.
They are managed by Naturvårdsverket (Swedish Environmental Protection Agency) in cooperation with local stakeholders, while also providing opportunities for outdoor recreation, hiking, and nature experiences.
Each park has its own distinct character and story, making them important symbols of Sweden’s natural heritage.
Tourism in Sweden’s national parks has grown steadily alongside increasing interest in nature-based experiences and sustainable travel. Both Swedish and international visitors come to the parks to hike, observe wildlife, and enjoy spectacular landscapes.
